March is Social Work Month, and appreciating our staff's work made me think about what social work is — so here's a giant THANK YOU to our staff and a giant THANK YOU to you, too!
Social work isn't just something professionals do — we do it all the time, often without even thinking about it. When you help a neighbor carry their groceries, volunteer at a local shelter, or listen to a friend having a rough day, you make a positive difference in someone's life. Even things like sharing important causes, like foster care(!) on social media or signing petitions to support your community count as social work. It's all about showing up for others, whether they're your friends, neighbors, or complete strangers.
We pitch in in so many ways to make the world a little better. Maybe you've donated clothes, helped clean up a park, or checked in on an elderly neighbor. Parents helping out at school events or people organizing food drives after a disaster are doing real, impactful work — even if they don't think of it that way. All these small acts of kindness and care add up, and when a whole bunch of people do them, they can create real change in a community. Social work isn't just a job — it's something anyone can do, and it starts with simply caring about others.
With love,
Jami & Deena
