Volunteer/Mentor
Spring & Summer Service Days:
Every year, we host two major volunteer days, in April and August, when we invite groups and individuals to help out with large and small projects of all types around the campus. It’s a fun-filled day, with all our residents and staff participating, and complimentary breakfast, lunch and ice cream social provided! Group Volunteer Opportunities:
Corporate/Group Volunteer Days: Companies or groups can host a day for their employees or members to do a service project at the agency. We will work with you to find the ideal project! Individual Volunteer Opportunities: Mentors: Female mentors, age 21 and up, are needed for mentoring relationships with our female residents. We’re looking for positive, responsible and caring role models. A one-year commitment is required. David & Margaret Auxiliary and Care Club: Help with fundraisers and special events and sponsor special projects for our youth. Meetings are held monthly; Auxiliary during the daytime and Care Club in the evening. Active members pay $10 in annual dues; sustaining members pay $20. Motivational Speakers: We are in need of professional businesswomen to speak to our girls about their careers and the path they took to get there. Recreation: Come teach or lead crafts or fitness activities to our girls in small groups. This would help to make their free time more enjoyable, therapeutic, and productive. Volunteers with special skills in areas such as music, yoga or martial arts are especially desired. Ministry Aides: Members of different faiths are needed to provide transportation to and from their church/house of worship and give our girls the opportunity to participate in special activities such as youth ministry, confirmation, etc. Recovery Sponsors: Adult women in recovery are needed to sponsor teenage girls in the process of becoming clean and sober. Sponsors help these girls by going with them to group meetings, providing ongoing one-on-one support, and helping them envision a future free of drugs and alcohol. Marketing/PR & Fundraising Committees: Individuals with experience and/or interest in marketing, public relations or fundraising are needed to contribute their creative ideas, guidance and community connections. Holiday Gifts: Help is needed to organize and wrap Christmas gifts from November through January. (Any gifts not given to clients for Christmas are used to stock a year-round birthday gift room.) Clerical Aides: Persons with clerical skills are needed to help with filing, data entry, making copies and other general office duties. Maintenance/Landscaping: There is an on-going need for volunteers to help our maintenance staff with painting, carpentry, gardening, and tree pruning.
